AeroCamp is designed to give young people a unique opportunity to explore the vast and exciting world of aviation and aerospace at their local airport. As a member of the Flight School Association of North America, Travel Express Aviation is proud to participate in the AeroCamp Program and make AeroCamp available to the kids in our community.
Campers learn first hand about the dynamics of airplanes and flight and about the broad spectrum of careers in the aviation industry. We give every camper the opportunity to fly an aircraft if they choose to. However, flight time is only a fraction of the AeroCamp experience and is not required to have a great learning adventure. While enrolled in AeroCamp, the campers will learn about many facets of aviation. They will learn the basics of aerodynamics and why planes fly, they will learn how to obtain and read a weather report, they will learn about VFR sectional charts and traffic patterns, they will learn about the pre-flight inspection that every pilot runs through before a flight, they will spend about 3 hours with an FAA certificated flight instructor flight training in a Piper Archer, they will review actual FAA Private Pilot Written Test Questions, and much much more. Each camper will receive 2 to 3 hours of in-flight instruction of which 1 hour is loggable. AeroCamp meets the requirements of the Boy Scouts of America's Aviation Merit Badge and TEA has Merit Badge Counselors on site.Included with the registration fee, students will receive a first flight logbook, First Flight Certificate, Aero Camp Tee Shirt, a Six month subscription to AOPA's Flight Training Magazine, an Aero Camp Graduation Certificate and a $25.00 gift certificate off a future Introductory Flight Lesson. Snacks, juice and water will be provided daily as well as a pizza lunch for students and their parents/guardians on Graduation Day.
